Gas In Saskatoon, April 29, 2016.

Back over the 90 cent mark.  Gas in Saskatoon jumped to 96.9 cents a litre earlier this week before dropping to 94.4 cents a litre at most locations today.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a jump to just over the one buck mark within the next month or so.

How They Got There.

One of the TV broadcasts on my current slate is Masterchef Canada.  While trying to find out who won last night's episode(CTV started airing Quantico early and cut off the end) I came across the application requirements for the currently running season.  Talk about a lot of work, and you might not even get close to being on the show.  I assume other reality competition shows have similar requirements.  After all the last thing you want is your winner to turn out to be a career criminal who ends up in jail, or learn that they're a wringer with an unfair advantage over other contestants.  The process is probably also intended to discourage people from applying on a whim, and causing the producers trouble when they decide they really don't want to take part.  It would be interesting to know how many entries they get, and how many of them are rejected without ever getting near being seen on TV.

Rabbit Time.

It had been a while since I saw a rabbit in Saskatoon.  But my stretch of not seeing any was broken when I was on East Drive today.  He still had a bit of white on his behind from his winter coat.  Hopefully he didn't run into the cat I saw soon after.  A patient enough cat might catch a rabbit, and I'm not sure a rabbit would recognise one as an enemy without experience.  On the other hand a jackrabbit might be able to injure a cat.

It Never Ends.

I'm just about to go out and buy a few grocery items.  This whole eating thing sure requires time and money, doesn't it?  And you can never get away from it.

I'm Not At My Physical Best, But.

I've got some annoyances that come with being a bit overweight and getting older.  But sometimes my body surprises me in a good way.

(This one gets labelled as a cryptic statement because I probably won't remember the specific reason I wrote this a couple years down the line.)

Gas In Saskatoon, April 8, 2016.

A small drop to report this week.  Gas in Saskatoon is now 85.9 cents a litre at most locations.  I won't make a guess at what direction it will go next, as I can see it going either way.

Robin, No Batman.

I just saw my first robin of the year.  I'd heard a few recently, but hadn't actually seen one.

It Definitely Could Have Been Worse.

It must be a bit worrying living by a major intersection.  The thought must regularly come to mind that your building will be hit by an idiot driver.  This morning there was an example of this at Saskatoon's Acadia Drive and 14th Street intersection.  The apartment building there was hit by a minivan about 7 AM.  As you can see by the pictures the van ended up wedged into the building.  Amazingly the driver got out and ran away.  He was followed by a bystander, who tracked him all the way to the Centre Mall several blocks away, where the driver was apprehended by mall security.  Several charges have been laid, and Saskatoon Police say speed and alcohol were involved.

The accident could have been worse.  The basement apartment located where the van hit was empty.  The driver was alone in the vehicle.  And he managed not to hit any other vehicle passing through.  Potential targets could have included Saskatoon Transit buses 3 and 5, which pass through that intersection around that time, depending on how on schedule they are.(I was riding 3 several winters ago when it was t-boned there by a car unable to stop on ice in the intersection.)

This is not the first time this building has been hit.  An accident years ago led to damage to another basement suite.  Perhaps the owners are going to have to consider installing some sort of posts or other barriers so it doesn't happen again.

Caramel.

Delicious on ice cream.  But a sticky problem if you pour too much on and it starts to overflow the bowl.

Dark Horses.

It's amazing how narrow the focus of the US media is regarding this year's election.  With their fixation on Bernie, the Donald, Hilary Clinton and Ted "I wanna star in a teen tit film" Cruz they're ignoring the other candidates for President.

How many, you ask?  Why, some 1669, to be exact.  (Please note that some of them have names that may be NSFW if your workplace is particularly snoopy.)  Why doesn't the media give us some more details on these guys and gals?  One of them may turn out to be the best President the US has ever had.  But you won't know unless you get to know them, and that's not happening right now.

Time To Vote.

Well, it will be in a hour.  For some reason they decided to open the polls at 9 AM.  In any case if you can vote in today's Saskatchewan provincial election please do so.  Of course you might be one of the 100 thousand some voters who've voted in advanced polls, so you've already done your duty.  And remember, if you don't vote please don't complain about the results.  Especially when you have a lot of choices this time around.
