Gas In Saskatoon, June 29, 2018.

It's been a while, but we've finally had a notable price change.  Gas in Saskatoon is now 120.4 cents a litre at most locations.

We've also had a new player enter the market.  Mobil is now in Saskatoon.  Last year Loblaws sold 200 some gas stations it owned to Mobil.  Billboards appeared a month or so back in Saskatoon announcing their arrival.  Loblaws had 4 stations in Saskatoon connected to the Real Canadian Superstores on 8th Street, and Confederation Drive, and at the Independent Grocers at Wanuskewin Road, and Herrold Road.  But even with the change in brand you'll still be able to use your PC Optimum card at those stations.

Take Care Of Your Teeth.

Seriously, if you can visit a dentist.  I didn't for a long time and I'm suffering the consequences as a result.  Things would be a lot better if I'd done something sooner.

My current dental clinic is Wheatland Dental if you're looking for a Saskatoon dentist.  They've done fine by me given the mess my mouth is.

Still Open.

To follow up my last post here's a correction.  The 7-Eleven on 22nd Street is in fact still open.  It will be closing on the 29th, so if for some reason you really feel the need to go there you still have time.

Three Down.

It might seem that 7-Elevens never go out of business, but we now have three less in Saskatoon.  The stores on 22nd Street, Broadway, and 8th Street across from Grosvenor Mall have all closed up.  Some posters on reddit claim that problems with theft was a reason for this, but I'll take that with a grain of salt.  Of course there are still plenty around if you need a Slurpee fix.

One I'm surprised is still in business in the same place is the one on Central Avenue.  That's one of the first, or perhaps the first, stores of the chain in Saskatoon.  I can remember going into it in the late '70s.  It's small and cramped, and has a tiny parking lot.  So you'd think it would have moved to some other location by now.  Compare it to the nearby Circle K(recently rebranded from Macs) at 108th Street and Central, which is a much larger store with more parking.

Sprite Zero Versus Diet 7 Up.

Having had bottles of both in the last few days I have to give the edge to Diet 7 Up.  I like the taste a big better, and a 2 litre Diet 7 Up bottle fits into the door shelf of my fridge.  Sprite Zero's 2 litre bottle is just a bit too tall.  Other 2 litre Coke products have the same problem.

A problem with both in my market is that it's almost impossible to find an individual single serving size of either.  A few places carry Diet 7 Up, but I don't think I've seen Sprite Zero.

Beyond The Five Second Rule.

Some people practice the so-called five second rule when it comes to food.  Personally I practice the no second rule, unless it's something raw that can be washed off.  But this of course doesn't apply in dreams.  Last night I dreamed I was cooking fried potatoes on the sidewalk.  At night, while walking on the same sizzling hot sidewalk.  Somehow I wasn't getting burned, and I also mused that I didn't have a problem cooking them this way, despite not wanting dirt on other things in my life.

Dreams are weird, aren't they?

A La Beetlejuice.

It's been a good while since I've done this, but it came to mind today.  So, in today's episode of Shameless Hit Mongering, we'll say the phrase that hopefully pays three times:

Jordan Peterson
Jordan Peterson.
Jordan Peterson.

If you've been paying attention to online articles about Peterson you've probably seen the comments sections accompanying those articles balloon with Peterson supporters.  A good example was Ed Brayton's post yesterday on Dispatches From The Culture Wars.  A bunch of people showed up to set Ed and everyone else straight.  Not that it really worked.  So I'm curious to see if I suddenly get a bunch of hits merely by mentioning his name.  Not that Shameless Hit Mongering has worked much in the past.

Peterson won't be getting a blog tag at this time.  I suspect his fifteen minutes will be done sooner than a lot of people expect.

Gas In Saskatoon, June 1, 2018.

The big price jump a lot of people have been expecting still hasn't happened. Gas in Saskatoon has actually dropped to 122.9 cents a litre at most locations.
