Breakaway Day Greetings.

 Another year has gone by, and once again it's September 13th.  It's been 21 years since September 13, 1999.

I was recently watching bits and pieces of 2001: A Space Odyssey.   Once again the thought came to mind that if someone had done a TV series spinoff of 2001 it would have looked a lot like the first season of Space:  1999.  The visual influence of the former on the latter is pretty obvious.  I'm guessing some of the plots would have easily been transferable between the two.  

And for those who didn't know September 13th is Barbara Bain's birthday.  She turns 89 today.  I wonder if this was coincidence, or if the choice of a date for Breakaway was because she co-starred in the series.

Google Knows My Birthday.

When I brought up Google's main page today I found it has a banner for my birthday.  Click on it and it has a bunch of stuff about October 18th.

You really have to wonder what all Google knows about its users.  I can see why some people avoid any sort of social media involvement, and use things like proxies to hide their online activities.

60.

The years roll on.  Geddy Lee turns 60 today.  In tribute, here's some ancient Rush.  I doubt the Geddy who did this ever imagined he'd still be at it 40 years later. (And no, despite the title, this isn't the Glenn Miller tune.)

Happy Birthday, Little Brother.

I'm surprised I haven't done this in the past, but better late than never.  It's my brother Joel's birthday today, so this one goes out to him.  And you too, if it's your birthday.

Happy 102nd, Charles Lane.

That name may not be familiar, but if you're a fan of old TV shows, or just older than thirty you've seen Charles Lane. Funny how he looked old 40 years ago. And much to my surprise Ernest Borgnine turned 90 this week. I didn't realise he was that old.
