It has been revealed that former deputy director of the FBI Mark Felt was Deep Throat, the mysterious source that provided reporter Bob Woodward and Carl Berstein crucial information in breaking the Watergate scandal. There have been numerous candidates proposed over the years, including Felt. Some had suggested Deep Throat was not one person but a composite of several sources, perhaps including Woodward himself. Deep Throat's identity had been an incredibly closely kept secret, only Woodward, Berstein, and former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee knowing his true name.
