It Feels Like Friday.

Knowing tomorrow is a holiday makes tonight feel like a Friday night.  Listening to the Riders-Argos game adds to the feeling.  And of course it's the last day of the month as well.

Gas In Saskatoon, June 24, 2016.

A nice gas price to report this Friday.  Since the last entry the price of gas has slowly crept down.  Gas in Saskatoon is now 98.4 cents a litre at most locations.  However next Friday is Canada Day, so a lot of people expect the price of gas to go up by then.

You'll Never Read Them.

I was thinking about comments I've made to various websites over the years.  I think some of them are the best things I've written online, often better than the things that get posted here.  But you'll never read them unless you happen to visit those websites.  I guess I need to up my game here.

Gas In Saskatoon, June 17, 2016.

After last week's big jump the price of gas in Saskatoon has trickled back down.  As of today gas in Saskatoon is 108.4 cents a litre at most locations.  Hopefully it will continue to go down.

Not Quite Who They Want.

In recent years there's been a lot of talk about getting more people to live in downtown Saskatoon.  This morning I saw a possible resident of the downtown area that isn't quite who they'd want to move in.  It was a jackrabbit, running down the sidewalk on 3rd Avenue.  Apparently it was a smart jackrabbit, since they weren't in the middle of the street.  Wherever he was going I hope he didn't get run over.

Gas In Saskatoon, June 10, 2016.

Another week of topsy turvy gas prices to report.  At the beginning of the week gas had dropped to 107.4 cents a litre.  But yesterday saw a 10 cent jump, with gas hitting 117.9 cents a litre.  In mid January it was at just under the 80 cent mark.

Of course if you looked at the right stations it seemed as if the price of gas was zero cents a litre for part of the week.  Petro Canada stations had their pumps shut down due to lack of fuel deliveries, the result of problems at Suncor's Edmonton refinery   So their gas price signs displayed a price of zero cents a litre.  I bet at least one driver tried to fill up at one of those stations, thinking he could actually get free gas.

That Jose Cuervo Ad.

I don't know where else it airs, but you've probably seen it multiple times if you watch Canadian TV.  It revolves around the Rolling Stones' 1972 tour.  The music in the ad?  "Miss You."

Which was released in 1978, on the album Some Girls.

I find that annoying.  If you can get the rights to a Stones tune why wouldn't you use one heard in 1972?  Apparently the ad agency that created it, McCann, figured one '70s Stones tune was as good as another.

I doubt Mick and Keith care, since they'll get paid for it.  But I personally find it kind of annoying.

Gas In Saskatoon, June 3, 2016.

Friday was not a good day to buy gas in Saskatoon.  By Thursday the price had dropped to 101.9 cents a litre.  But Friday saw a large jump to 111.9 cents a litre at most locations.  This may be attributable to a shutdown of Suncor's Edmonton refinery, which provides gas to Petro-can stations in Western Canada, and those stations are expected to have shortages.
